Why This Site Exists
I'm Colin Durnez, and I built Trades Business Software because most software review sites for tradespeople are quietly funded by the very vendors they review. A high rating means a vendor paid for a "featured" slot — not that the software is actually good for a small HVAC or plumbing business.
I wanted a resource that called out bad software even when it had a generous affiliate programme, and gave credit to genuinely good tools even when they didn't. Everything here is analysed through in-depth research against documented criteria — not influenced by who pays the most commission.
What We Cover
We focus on software used by independent contractors and small-to-medium trades businesses:
- HVAC software — scheduling, dispatch, service agreements, maintenance reminders
- Plumbing software — quoting, invoicing, parts tracking, customer history
- Electrical software — job costing, compliance documentation, mobile field access
- Field service software — cross-trade tools covering CRM, payments, GPS tracking
Our Methodology
Every product is evaluated against the same criteria: scheduling, dispatch, quoting, invoicing, payments, mobile app, integrations, and support quality. Pricing is verified directly from vendor websites and supplemented by publicly available information, demos, and documentation.
